Nita Xʷúsᐧxʷəs-tinek  is a multifaceted artist whose work spans across film, television, singing and writing contemporary & traditional Indigenous stories through media. Her Nłeʔkepmxcín name Xʷúsᐧxʷəs-tinek (hwoosh-hwesh-tee-neck), means bold and courageous. Deeply rooted in her Nłeʔkepmx and Nēhiyawak (Plains Cree) identity,  her talents in acting, singing,  and writing celebrate her ancestor’s Indigenous heritage.  Dedicated to language revitalization, she learned her endangered language Nłeʔkepmxcín from her aunt, a residential school survivor. This continues to inspire her commitment to authentically represent diverse Indigenous women in film and television. With a passion for storytelling, Nita brings Indigenous narratives to the forefront through her compelling performances and dedication to the craft of acting. As a traditional singer and drummer, she also preserves and shares cultural knowledge connecting audiences to the rich history and traditions of her people. Every note and beat resonate with reverence to the Creator xeʔɬkʷúpiʔ (halth- gook-bee), stories of her ancestors and the natural world, while fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of her culture.

In addition to her Indigenous drumming and singing, she actively represents multicultural characters in film and television. This dual engagement allows her to bridge the gap between her heritage and contemporary narratives, showcasing the diversity of her people. Her portrayals challenge stereotypes and highlight the richness of Indigenous stories, further promoting cultural awareness and unity spanning across across Turtle Island.

Through her creative endeavors, Nita is passionate about connecting Indigenous youth to their roots through cultural arts and Indigenous language reclamation. In addition to her artistic pursuits, Nita is dedicated  to advocacy of Indigenous youth. She believes in the power of mentorship through traditional and modern mediums to educate and empower the next generation. She is passionate about creating a sense of cultural pride,  awareness and understanding,  creating opportunities for them to express themselves through the arts.

Her work is critical in nurturing understanding and appreciation for the richness and diversity of Indigenous cultures, advancing representation in the media, and empowering the next generation of Indigenous voices. Through her artistry, she not only honours her cultural traditions but also paves the way for future generations.
